Moodboards & Research






Based on our feedback yesterday I've put togeather a couple of moodboards on our character and first scene and a research sheet on tentacles.

Oh and the title we have for our game at the moment is R.E.E.M. it mite turn out to be a bit of a working title and it doesnt actually stand for anything yet, but it sounds good :)

10 years ago I started working in the games industry. Along the way I've picked up a few things that I wanted to record (for my own sake!) and share with you. 1. first building basic modeling pretty much done

The basics of the first building is done! There's a few things in there that I would (will) probably tweak and change. I'm not 100% happy with the walls, some of them are too solid looking and need to feel more like they have been nailed together with scrap wood and sheets of corrugated iron. Saying that the basic shape and layout of the building is down and that was what I was aiming to achieve. Next I'll be modelling the walkways along the front of the buildings and hopefully making some plans that I can re-use throughout the level. What I am slightly concerned with is that it's looking a bit too much like a pirate town at the moment but I hope when I add textures and props that it will start looking more like a slum. Maybe I will add some more partitions in the buildings to give a more cramped feel. day 7 and where I'm at!

So this is what it's looking like! I want to use this in a submission for the Blitz open day and the deadline is the 10th. My disertation is needing a bit of work too :( So may leave it as it is for now. I will however keep working on this after the Blitz submission. The things I want to change are: - re-do the main body and tower textures, change them to 1024 maps. - add more geometrical detail to the edge of the roof of the main body, tower, porch and both extensions - tweak the geom on the edges of the pine end of the roof and the tower to get a better silhouette - create emissive textures for lamps and windows - create a smoke particle affect for the chimneys - work further into the roof textures, especially the edges. Get all the walls and roof. - add some weathering to the roof tiles.
